Summer days have come and everywhere you go, it’s hot and humid. The Temperature in most Asian countries rises from 30 degrees to 50 degrees in peak hours. Scientists at Indian Meteorological Department said that the temperature in India risen sharply in the past two decade [Ref: Rediff] and it’s will continue to rise furthermore due to El Nino phenomenon.
Typically in India, in the month of April, May, and June, from morning to evening its very hot and heat waves blows around. Thousands of people die due to sunstroke in this part of the world. Your body does feel this heat and so it requires some cool and chilly thing to keep it hydrated. There are many ways to hydrate your body either by drinking a plenty of water or by drinking refreshing juices. There are many refreshing juices like Coconut water, sugarcane juice and much more.
Here are few refreshing summer juices using which you can beat the heat –
Fennel is good for digestion and also solves the common digestion problems like heartburn, acidity, cholera and few more problems. It is believed that eating fennel seeds may increase the production of breast milk and also further the process of mensuration.
After having your meals it is must to chew 1 tablespoon of fennel seeds for the good digestion. In summer it is necessary to drink this fennel juice to keep our body hydrated.
1 glass water
2 tbsp ground fennel seeds
2 tbsp sugar(as per sweetness)
1/2 tbsp lemon juice if necessary
2 – 3 ice cubes
I love the pleasant smell of the mint and is the most refreshing ingredient. Mint juice is a good appetizer and is excellent for the digestion. There are many health benefits of mint like the common cold, breasting feeding, gastric problem, skin care for pimples and mouth ulcers.
Adding chopped mint leaves to any recipe at the end makes it tasty as well beautiful. Sprinkle a few chopped mint leaves on the cut salad or for the soups, will surely change the taste.
Here is the mint juice preparation –
1 bunch of mint
1 glass water
3 – 4 tbsp of lemon juice
1 – 2 tbsp sugar
1/4 tbsp Black slat
3 Ice cubes
One more best refreshing fruit in summer is Watermelon. Watermelon is thirst satisfying fruit with 92 % of water in it flesh, so it is best for the hydration in summer. This fruit is rich in Vitamin C, amino acid and also in Citrulline. It’s very widely available in the market with different varieties.
Because of its watery and crunchy flesh most of the people especially children are found of watermelon. After eating a plate full of watermelon or a glass full of watermelon juice your feel stomach tight due to its water content.

1/2 tbsp of rock salt or black salt
3 – 4 ice cubes

Buttermilk is tasty, healthy and energizing drink in summer to keep our body hydrated. Its rich source of calcium, protein and minerals. As it is good for our body, it’s a famous drink in North India during hot conditions. In summer drinking buttermilk in the morning and at afternoon will keep your body hydrated and maintain a good balance in the digestive system.
1 glass buttermilk
1 stems mint
2 steams coriander leaves
1/2 tbsp grounded cumin powder
1/4 tbsp grounded black pepper powder
2 – 3 ice cubes
Rock salt as per taste
