It’s one of the main course food item usually served in South India and due to it’s taste, it’s famous all over India. Chicken Biryani is tastier than vegetable Biryani. But to make Vegetable Biryani tastier, we have come up with Veg Biryani – homemade recipe. The good thing is that it can be prepared at home.

So let’s get started with Veg Biryani recipe (home-made):

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Rice
  • 1/4 cup Onion
  • 1/4 cup sliced Carrot
  • 1/4 cup sliced Beans
  • 1/4 cup sliced Capsicum
  • 1/4 cup sliced Potatoes
  • 1 tbsp Ginger & Garlic Paste
  • 2 tbsp Groundnuts(Optional)
  • 2 tbsp Green Peas
  • 4 Cardamom or इलायची
  • 4 Black Pepper or काली मिर्च
  • 4 Cinnamon or दालचीनी
  • 4 Cloves or लौंग
  • 3 – 4 Green Chills
  • 1 steam curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp corinader leaves
  • 2 Dry red chills
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp shahi jeera
  • 1 tbsp Asafoetida or हिंग
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • 2 cup water
  • Salt as per taste

Preparation Method

Soak 1 cup rice in 2 cup water and place aside.
Heat 3 tbsp oil in a presser cooker.
As oil comes to heat add Cardamom, Black Pepper, Cinnamon and Cloves.
Now add Dry red chills, Bay leaves and groundnut, stir in oil as they turn slightly brown.
Then Add Green Chills and Curry leaves.
Add Onion and fry until it changes to light brown.

Onion with other ingrediants

Add sliced Beans & Capsicum.

Beans and Capsicum.Then add the sliced Carrot.Add sliced Carrot to the BiryaniLater add the sliced Potatoes.Add sliced Potatoes to the Biryani

Stir fry all the vegetables for few minutes after adding the salt.
Then add Ginger and Garlic paste.

Add Ginger & Garlic PasteLet all the ingredients cook properly.
Strain the water from rice and then add the rice.Add Uncooked Rice

Now add water to the Rice.

At last, add green peas and ghee and stir properly.
Now close the lid of the presser cooker.
Cook the Biryani up to 2 whistles and let the air come out naturally.
Now open the lid of presser cooker and mix the Biryani evenly.
